Givenchy Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2012: Tribal Goes Modern

Givenchy's Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was shown in a simple park setting, surrounded by green trees and topped off with a menacing looking Alsatian on a leash, held by Joan Smalls who looked equally as formidable in an intricately beaded gradient sweater and tailored trousers combo. Beading was one of the most noticeable elements of the collection - Tisci formed intricate beaded patterns complete with large appliqué.

He also heavily used long nappa leather fringe, dangling from cape-like structures and woven leather designs. As raw and tribal as it was, Tisci also demonstrated elegance in a more demure fur-wrap dress which featured nothing more than a clean sweep of pristine beige fabric on the lower half. It was perhaps a clash of his two greatest inspiration points: sleek modern elegance and dark tribal spirit - both combining so beautifully to tell an inspiring, visually stunning tale.
