For his collaboration with Japanese makeup company Shu Uemura, Karl Lagerfeld wanted to create beauty pieces with a Japanese Manga inspired vibe, so much so that he invented his own to take inspiration from. Karl commented:
“I wanted to invent my personal vision of a Japanese manga.”
A makeup artist at Shu Uemura explains why Karl wanted to include a bright red eyeshadow in the line:
“Red is a symbolic color for Karl Lagerfeld, because he always dreamed of a red eye shadow to make his sketches, so they created it in this palette for him.”
The collection features two eyeshadow and cheek palettes, a set of eyelash curlers with a Mon Shu charm, and even a nail art set with polish and Mon Shu nail stickers. The collaboration also boosts an expensive Kyoto makeup box which retails for $367.80. The full collection will launch in October this year, and will be available online. Take a sneak peek at what will be available below!
