Tom Ford Says Modelling is a "Horrible Job", Gives Gisele Ageing Tip

Designer Tom Ford has spoken candidly about modelling. He believes the job can be "horrible" because models are often made to feel more like objects rather than real people which can be upsetting. He also feels they are often put in situations where they are rejected regularly which can be harsh:
“[Modelling] is a horrible job. I feel really sorry for models. I’m serious. It’s a horrible job. They get rejected and treated like they’re not even people.”
In the same interview, Tom comments that it can also be difficult to be described as one of the most beautiful women in the world, because as the ageing process takes hold and that person's looks aren't as youthful as when they first hit the spotlight, it can have a very negative impact on that person. He refers specifically to Gisele, warning her that it can get difficult when "people react to you differently":
“This sounds negative, but when you’re considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, it’s very, very hard when that starts to slip away. It’s hard to feel good about yourself when people react to you differently. And, Gisele, I hope you’re not reading this, because it’s going to sound so negative but I know through some of my best friends who are really famous actresses–I’m not going to mention their names–who were at one point considered to be among the most beautiful women in the world at different periods of time, and how hard it is for them emotionally. So I hope Gisele is prepared for that, because it’s so difficult.”
