Brazilian model Lea T. made worldwide headlines when she first launched her modeling career and became one of the first transsexual models to be used by a major label (Givenchy) - she also landed a Vogue Paris editorial shortly after and quickly rose to prominence along with other models such as Andrej Pejic who toyed with the idea of gender ambiguity and androgyny.
Earlier this year, Lea underwent gender reassignment surgery in Thailand and although it took her some time to recover, she later resurfaced in September, opening and closing Philipp Plein's show. She did more work with Givenchy, starring in their Autumn/Winter 2012 Haute Couture lookbook with various other models. However, it appears that the general interest surrounding the model and her journey as a transsexual has died down now that she's post-op.
On one hand, this is positive for Lea, who most likely just wants to be treated like any other model out there. However, it might also signal the end of the career - will she continue to work now that the public's attention is no longer on her?
