Footwear designer Sam Edelman has enlisted American model Kate Upton to star in his new Spring/Summer 2013 black&white campaign. Upton initially caught his eye when she was seen wearing a pair of his riding boots and their love of horses was a mutual interest between them. He also likes the fact that she isn't known everywhere yet:
“It felt like the right time, we had a major ad campaign with Charlotte Kemp Muhl 18 months ago. [By choosing Kate,] it was a hell of a decision to go with an indie girl.”
David Lipman captured the photos and explains that she was also selected because she isn't as thin as other models:
“We chose Kate because she isn’t stick thin. She’s beautiful and all-American.”
Is he implying there is something wrong with models who are skinner than Kate?
