Janice Dickinson, who claims to have been the original "supermodel" has filed for bankruptcy, due to debts owed amounting to almost $1 million. Janice was one of the most successful models of the late 70s and 80s, amassing 37 Vogue covers and countless editorials during the period after convincing Ford Models in New York City to sign her in 1978.
A part of her debt is owed on account of various cosmetic surgeries which she has failed to pay for - she owes in excess of $8,000 to Arnold Klein, the Beverly Hills dermatologist who 'developed the injection techniques for the cosmetic use of Botox, collagen and Restylane'; and a further $8,000 to Dr. Uzzi Reiss, who runs the Beverly Hills Anti-Aging Center.
Janice did not deny the problem, commenting:
"I had some trouble, so yes, it is true, I am upset and taking every step to pay everyone back and I feel terrible about it."
Janice claims to have invented the term supermodel when her agent commented on her work ethic, stating: "You are not Superman." To which she responded "I am not Superman, I am a supermodel."
