Doutzen Kroes has revealed that she is often left feeling guilty because she believes girls can end up being insecure after seeing her in magazine images. She explains that she doesn't think she looks herself in the images because there is so much hair, makeup, lighting and post-processing involved that she believes it's not realistic. She commented:
"I always say, I don't like the picture. If you put me in a bad light with no hair and makeup, it's not good... I wake up sometimes like, this is not what I see when I look at the magazine, who is this visitor in the bathroom?"
Speaking on new child model laws which state that those under 16 must have a chaperon, Doutzen believes it will call an end to any negative experiences younger models can unfortunately have:
"By making this legislation the law in New York, we have brought an end to the rampant exploitation and sexual abuse of child models by giving child models the critical protections they’ve been denied for too long."
