Make a game of picking out clothes by pairing it up with the old-timey game everyone knows how to play.
For the outsider, eclectic fashion can be somewhat strange and disconcerting. Considered individually, each piece in an eclectic ensemble might seem to scream “fashion faux pas”, but as a whole the outfit somehow works. It’s kinda like magic!
What’s fun about eclectic fashion styles is that there’s no one way to do it. It’s all about mixing and matching both contrasting and complementary pieces to find your own personal style.
You can even make a game out of it by pairing it up with bingo, the old-timey game everyone knows how to play.
Bingo has been making waves during the past few years or so. Gone are the days when it was thought to be the sole domain of little old ladies and retirees. Bingo is now being used as a social tool by the younger set, with special bingo nights and parties drawing in customers who you wouldn’t normally expect to see playing such an “old” game.
The game is also poised to conquer the virtual world, including the mobile gaming sphere. “Since the game launched on iOS and Facebook in September, more than 54 million bingo cards have been played, with second day retention rates standing at 30-percent,” says Inside Mobile Apps of the recently launched CheekyBingo iPad app.
Since bingo is such an easily customizable game, it’s the perfect platform for adding a bit of random fun when you’re putting together an eclectic outfit. Here’s how you do it:
1. Rummage through your closet and pull out 5 items of clothing for each section of your body (5 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 shoes, 5 accessories, 5 hats or bags)
2. Number the items in each category from 1 to 5.
3. Pick a number at random for each category. You can use dice or any random number generation like the one at Random.org.
4. Using the numbers you picked, put together your final spontaneous and eclectic outfit.
To make things more interesting, don’t just pick out items that you know will go together. As Top Buttons recommends when creating your own eclectic style, play around with fabrics, prints, patterns, and colors. The same goes with your shoes and accessories. It’s the perfect chance to pair older items with newer ones.
