Plaid has been cool since the first punk put a safety pin through it (it might have been Vivienne Westwood), up to the 90s when grungy Kurt Cobain followers tried to get the Nirvana frontman's thrown together style.
Now, with the likes of Hedi Slimane trawling through musical history to take inspiration, plaid is back, be it the classic red and black stripe or a new incarnation - we've seen it as a digital print, in new shades and on revamped old classics such as patchwork shirts.
Here is a look at how models, editors and more are wearing plaid in a new way: giving the print an elegant edge by selecting a pencil skirt, opting for modern structured coat with a plaid print, throwing on a plaid shirt around their waist or just playing up the 90s vibe by adding a crop top and Doc Martens.
