Mulberry had promised to put on a surprise event featuring British model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne at London Fashion Week and the label delivered by revealing Cara's first bag collection in collaboration with the company. Fusing Cara's own tastes with classic Mulberry finishing touches, the new designs are youthful and fun, as well as practical and including one statement camouflage backpack. Speaking on creating her first bag range, Cara commented on what working with Mulberry has meant to her:
"I hate that thing where celebrities just slap their names on any old thing, I don't ever want to do anything I don't have a connection with. Mulberry was the first bag I was ever given. Before that it was always fabric bags from India. I loved that bag and wore it to death."
The model also admits she had some nerves about the collection:
"I was so nervous before they finally showed the finished version to me. We only started working on them at the end of last year. These things can go so wrong. They covered my eyes before they finally showed them to me. The build up was intense, I can tell you".
