Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw had been noticeably absent from the fashion world for quite some time now - the model recently reappeared for the April 2014 issue of Vogue Australia, but it looks as though her return to modelling is only to promote her acting career as she prepares to debut her skills on screen in new film 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. Now, Abbey has confirmed that her career as a model is no longer a priority but she isn't retiring either:
“Essentially, I’ve not retired from modelling, but it’s not in the forefront of what I’m doing any more.”
Abbey adds that she now wants to be taken seriously as an actress and in order to do so, she needs to take a step back from her modelling career:
“I’m pulling away from modelling mainly because I really want to be taken seriously as an actor and I don’t want to have that label of model-turned-actress. I really want people to respect what I do for my craft, and not from where I’ve come from. So I’m trying to be really selective in the work that I do, so that I can make that transition smooth. I’m now essentially making decisions based on what an actress would do: what does Michelle Williams shoot? What does Angelina Jolie shoot?”
