Model Andreja Pejic has been very candid about her gender transition so far. Now, she has shared how many people around her felt when she initially told them about her plans to have gender reassignment surgery. She was told that her career could be damaged because people might find her less interesting as a result. She spoke on the reactions she experienced: ''There was definitely a lot of 'Oh, you're going to lose what's special about you. You're not going to be interesting anymore. There are loads of pretty girls out there.' It is about showing that this is not just a gimmick.''
Andreja believes people are slowly realising that not everyone falls into one obvious category: ''There are just more categories now. It's good. We're finally figuring out that gender and sexuality are more complicated.'' Commenting on getting back to work, she says she prefers editorial shoots because runway work can be more stressful: ''I prefer doing shoots. I get a little stressed with runway. I wasn't given that much training in the beginning. I was just thrown in with the girls, and the designer was like, 'Put these heels on.' ''
