Abbey Lee Kershaw Wishes She Told Alber Elbaz "to go F**k Himself"

Australian model-turned-actress Abbey Lee Kershaw has given her honest opinion of what it is like to be a model, explaining that she never felt secure because models are regularly disposed of if they become unpopular. She explained: “You are so disposable as a model, there is no security in it and you don’t really believe people actually care about you. If I wasn’t a hot flavour anymore, I was going to lose work.”

Speaking on flying around the world to walk at Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, Abbey says it's gruelling and difficult to cope: “I’ve never worked so hard in my life. By the time you get to Paris, you can barely open your eyes. Your skin is red raw from all the makeup, your scalp hurts, you’re exhausted, you’re hungry, you are that broken down.”

Abbey remembers the moment when she had enough and realised she needed to quit. It was during the Spring/Summer 2011 collections and Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz told her she looked drunk when she walked during a practice run for the show: “If I could go back in time, I’d tell him to go fuck himself. I was so shocked at what was happening, I was muted from it. When I look back at it now, I get really angry I didn’t have the balls, the energy, to stand up to him.”
