Alexander Wang Departs Balenciaga

Although it had been speculated, news that Alexander Wang is set to depart as designer for Balenciaga has just been confirmed. Wang's contract is about to run out and the fashion house decided not to renew. The Spring/Summer 2016 collection will be his last and the label are now searching for a replacement.

He previously replaced Nicolas Ghesquière and he commented at the time on the new position: "I am deeply honoured to embark on this new role for a brand and house that I have such great admiration and respect for." His debut for Balenciaga was the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, so his time with the fashion house has been short and reports suggest that he simply found his workload too much.

Update: The label have commented on searching for a new designer and are "open to considering a lesser-known, hidden talent for the plum post, emboldened by the positive feedback and outpouring of goodwill it had in promoting Gucci insider Alessandro Michele to succeed Frida Giannini at the helm of the Italian brand earlier this year,"
